Getting started
- Start your free trial from the signup page. Your card is required to begin but nothing is charged until the trial ends.
- Add your company details and branding from Account settings.
- Invite team members from Users and Roles, and choose a role for each person.
- Create your first assessment or reference check and send it to a candidate.
- The sidebar groups tools into Hiring Pipeline, Team Management, Creators, and Account.
- Use the Creators section to build personalised assessments, surveys, and reference templates.
- Open the dashboard for an overview of recent activity and outstanding actions.
- Click the help icon in your profile menu any time to return to this help centre.
Assessments
- Open Candidate Assessments and pick a ready-made assessment, or build your own from the Creators section.
- Choose Send and enter the candidate name and email, or select an existing candidate.
- The candidate receives an email invitation with a secure link to their portal.
- Track progress on the candidate record and review the score and report once they finish. Sending an assessment uses credits.
- Go to Creators and open Assessments, then choose Create assessment.
- Let AI generate a role-specific assessment, or build one manually from the question library.
- Review and edit the questions, scoring, and time limit.
- Save it, then send it to candidates like any other assessment. AI generation uses credits.
- Open the candidate record to see the overall score and a per-question breakdown.
- Scores are colour coded so you can compare candidates at a glance.
- Request AI insights for a deeper read of strengths and gaps. AI insights use credits.
- Download the branded PDF report to share internally.
Reference checks
- Open Checks and choose to send a new reference check.
- Select one or more reference templates and set how many references are required.
- Enter the candidate details. The candidate is invited to nominate their referees.
- Referees complete the questions by email. Automated reminders keep things moving. Each required reference uses credits.
- AI analyses every reference response for inconsistencies and signs of fabrication.
- Each reference receives a confidence score with specific concerns highlighted.
- Review flagged references on the reference check record before relying on them.
- Download the combined report for your records once the check is complete.
Surveys and eNPS
- Open Survey Library to use a ready-made survey, or build one in Creators.
- For engagement tracking, run an eNPS wave from Employee Feedback.
- Choose the team or recipients and send. Responses are anonymous to encourage candour.
- Surveys and eNPS waves use credits. Review results and AI themes as responses arrive.
Exit interviews
- Open Employee Feedback and start an exit interview for a departing team member.
- The interview is completed digitally by the employee.
- AI surfaces themes across responses so patterns are easy to spot.
- Review individual responses and the aggregated insights from the same dashboard.
Compliance
- Open Checks and start a compliance check for a candidate.
- Request the documents you need, such as licences or working rights.
- The candidate uploads documents securely through their portal.
- Review and verify each document. Document verification uses credits.
Contracts and onboarding
- Open Onboarding and choose to send a contract.
- Select the candidate and the contract to send. Sending a contract uses credits.
- The candidate reviews and signs digitally from their portal.
- The signed contract is stored securely and the creator is notified on completion.
- From Onboarding, switch to the onboarding documents tab.
- Send the documents the new starter needs to complete or sign.
- Track completion from the same view as documents come back.
- Combine with compliance checks and a contract for a complete onboarding pack.
Billing and credits
- Both plans include 100 credits per month. Credits are used for actions like sending assessments, running reference checks, and generating AI insights.
- Your remaining balance is shown on the Billing page.
- Buy more credits any time at one dollar per credit.
- Unused base credits do not roll over indefinitely. Check the Billing page for your current balance and usage.
- Open Billing to see your current plan and usage.
- Upgrade or downgrade between Basic and Premium. Changes take effect at your next billing cycle.
- Add seats for extra team members at ten dollars per seat per month.
- On a trial, choose Start plan now to activate your paid plan immediately.
Team management
- Open Users and Roles and choose to invite a user.
- Assign a role. Admins have full access, managers can be given specific permissions.
- Create custom roles to control exactly what each person can see and do.
- Invited users receive an email to set their password and join your account.
- Open Teams and create a team for a department or group.
- Add members to the team.
- Send team assessments to track competencies and identify training gaps.
- Monitor completion and skill development across the team.
Account and security
- Open Account settings and find the security section.
- Choose an authenticator app, email one-time codes, or both.
- Save your backup codes somewhere safe in case you lose your device.
- Accounts lock after five failed login attempts and sessions expire after 24 hours.
- Open Account settings to update your company name and contact details.
- Add your logo and branding so candidate-facing pages match your brand.
- Change your password from the same screen. Password changes sign out all active sessions.
- Request a copy of your data or account deletion by emailing hello@assessely.com.
Integrations
- Open Account settings and find Integrations.
- Choose your provider and authorise the connection.
- Once connected, export documents to your chosen storage.
- Disconnect any time from the same screen.
For candidates
- Open the secure link in your email invitation to reach your candidate portal.
- Complete assessments, reference forms, and documents on any device, including your phone.
- For a reference check, nominate your referees and they will be contacted directly.
- Your progress is saved as you go. Return through the same link to finish later.
- Use the link in your invitation email, or sign in at the candidate login page.
- Set a password the first time you sign in.
- From your dashboard, see assessments, documents, and references assigned to you.
- Contact the employer who invited you if you have questions about a specific task.
